My love for Helium

discovered Helium about a month ago. I was searching for a certain article and that's how I found Helium. My first impression was, what a cool site! Soon, I became a member and I started to write articles. There are many reasons why I love Helium.
First, I really enjoy reading about a multitude of subjects. With Helium, it's so easy to find what you're looking for! And, everyone can find something interesting! Helium is the perfect site for learning about a wide variety of subjects!
Secondly, Helium is a great site for me to practice my English. Before I discovered Helium, I was only writing in French. Now, as I'm writing more and more articles, it gets easier for me to write in English. And that is great!
Finally, what I really like about this site is that everyone is friendly and respectful of each other. If you need help with something, there's always someone willing to help you and answer your questions. Helium really is a great site!

Writing articles that earn high ratings at Helium

Articles Must Be EYE CATCHING, and EASILY READABLE! in order to earn high ratings at Helium.
Readers find the article first, and then read it, and later on rate it. That is the common sense. That is the core principle we must remember in writing articles. T
How can we make the readers want to read our article? It must be EYE CATCHING! How to make it EYE CATCHING?
Every writing medium has their own characteristic. Writers have to adapt their style with the unique characteristics of the medium it self.
The style of article written for news paper may be different from the style of article published in the internet, and so on, and so on.
Helium, as a medium to publish articles in the internet has its own unique characteristic too. Its unique characteristics are:
1. Narrow content column
2. Ratings by other writers
3. Lists of same title articles, written by different authors.
Now, have a close look at the characteristic # 3. If we browse to read articles in Helium, we will see, that a popular title will have a long list of articles written by many authors.
Will readers read all the articles written under a title? I believe NOT!
Helium will rank, list the author, and include a few initial words of every article listed under the same title.
For example, at the time this article written, Articles titled "Writing Articles That Earn High Ratings At Helium is listed:

Now, do you see? Helium list the first 66 characters of every listed articles! I called it THE RULE 66!
Based on that rule, perhaps my article will be listed by Helium as:
# 5 by (my name)
Articles Must Be EYE CATCHING, and EASILY READABLE! in order to ea ... read more
Is it right? Regardless of this article's rank, I bet my ears that I am right!
So, to make our articles EYE CATCHING in Helium, We must begin our article by the most attractive, less than 66 characters sentence!
Now, let's see Helium's other characteristics, that is narrow column, and rating by other authors.
The final displays of our article is completely different than when we look at it in the Helium's text editor.
What seems easily readable in the text editor, can be less easy to read in the final displays, and in the rating window (2 windows we saw when we are rating articles).
I am very dizzy and will left the article unread if the author of the article never mind herself to skip a blank line between each paragraph, or there are so many lines in each paragraph
I adapt my writing style to this unique characteristics.
As a rule of thumb, what seems like long 1 line in the text editor may be 2 lines in the final displays.
If we stick to the old rule: 'one idea for one paragraph,' in Helium, every paragraph will contain so many lines. It makes the readers dizzy and not interesting.
I anticipate that problem by composing articles in simple and short sentences, and always skip a blank line after one or two long sentences.
As a reader myself, I found it easier to read an article written that way.
As the CONCLUSION:
1. Write the most attractive 66 characters sentence at the beginning of the article.
2. Try to compose articles in simple and short sentences.
3. Always skip a blank line between every one or two long sentences.
This is the TRICKS! because high quality content does not guarantee that an article will be a success. Of course, easily readable article will not have a high ratings if it just a baloney.
Both Quality, and Tricks must go together along the way.
To gain good quality, content of an article must be rich substantially (rich in substances), and grammatically correct (every sentence must be correct in grammar, and vocabularies).
Yes, we cannot guarantee that our articles will be grammatically 100% correct, but remember! Grammatically correctness is not the purpose itself.
The real purpose is to make our readers understand every bits of explanation in our articles. If the readers could understand the article, then just consider the purpose of the article is satisfied, and therefore, the article is a success.
So, what do you think?

Opportunities expand for Helium's writers with Marketplace: Helium's publishing partners

Helium has dramatically expanded the exciting Marketplace program, partnering with publishers to increase publishing opportunities for Helium's writing community. A new publisher setting up house at Helium's Marketplace is GeoSign, a multi-million dollar publishing house that operates hundreds of specialty sites. According to Mark Ranalli, President and CEO of Helium, "The quality of writing and level of activity in the Marketplace program will allow us to build this initiative into an exciting and lucrative opportunity for our community." The future looks bright for expanding Helium's publishing partnership program further. Like Helium, Marketplace is on the rise!
Peter Degen-Portnoy, Helium's Director of Business Development, reports: "The new partnership between Helium and Geosign is a tremendous opportunity not only for both organizations, but also for the active and involved Helium community. With literally hundreds of revenue-generating websites, Geosign continuously needs new content capable of attracting Internet users. The writers at Helium have a significantly increased opportunity to turn their creative endeavors into a potentially lucrative income stream while increasing the quality and quantity of offerings at Helium."
With Marketplace, publishers initiate article titles for content they are seeking for their publications. Helium's writers can view these titles on our site, learn about the details, see the pay scale, and find links to the magazines. The Helium writer's pen name will serve as their byline. Helium writers win recognition, increase income and win wider exposure for their work.
How it works:
Publishers submit articles to Helium on topics of interest to them. When enough articles accumulate, the publisher will go into that title group and compare the articles written by Helium's writers. The publisher will view your article using our peer-ranking system. The higher you rank, the better your chance to be published by our partners. However, the publishing partners reserve the right to select the content that works best for them. It is also possible that no article will be selected.
Once your article has been selected, you will be notified by Helium. Some publishers want assurances that your article has not been published anywhere else, other than on Helium.com. You will be notified when and where your article appears. Then some extra pay will show up in your PayPal account, as a Helium deposit. In addition, Helium will feature your name next to the article selected on the Marketplace section of the website. This will be linked in the usual way to your About Me page for further exposure. More money and fame: What more could a writer want?
Tips for success:
Read all the specifications listed next to the article title.
Click on the publication link and learn about the type of content featured and that publication's writing standards.
If they have publisher's guidelines and/or a style guide, follow these details precisely.
Be careful to cite all sources, but do so as endnotes, rather than in the body of the text.
Think carefully about the Helium pen name that you use. Imagine this as your byline in another publication. If you want to change it, do so as soon as possible, by clicking on the "My Helium" button on the main menu and "Account Settings" on the sidebar menu. You'll notice three tabs at the top of that section. Click on "pen name" and change yours if you want.
Beef up (add more fiber) to your About Me page. Whenever anyone likes to an article you've written, they will click on your user name to find out more about you. Brand yourself in a way that will help your publishing goals.
Be adventuresome and try your hand at this challenge. Your writing career might take off in even more exciting ways.
